Is there a way I can appeal FEMA flood plain map? Jan 2009 FEMA decided to change it's flood plain map in our area. We have lived in this house for nearly 25 years (Mazomanie township, Dane County Wisconsin) and despite local heavy flooding in 1994, 2008 and 2010 we have never had any water on our property, let alone near our house. We have a natural barrier between our property and the river in the form of properties well above the "flood plain elevation" and distance. The people living between our property and the river are not required to have flood insurance. We are trying to sell our home (due to retirement and wanting to move) but the whole flood insurance issue is complicating it. |
